The mission of the Friends for the Abbott Marshlands is to engage and inspire a diverse community to experience the unique nature and history of the Abbott Marshlands and to advocate for its stewardship. The Abbott Marshlands include over 3000 acres of open space along the Delaware River. With many landowners and boundaries that cross county and municipal lines, the Friends is the only organization the works to support the entire marshlands. We strive to cultivate an environmentally aware and involved community through high-quality, engaging experiences that increase knowledge and spark a passion for environmental stewardship
Our volunteers are valued as an essential part of accomplishing our mission to steward the Abbott Marshlands. Every step in the services the Friends provides is made possible by the unique skills and dedication of our volunteers who are the backbone of our stewardship, educational, recreational, and outreach programs. Volunteer Opportunities are diverse and include front desk support at the Tulpehaking Nature Center, Trail Stewardship activities, Outreach, and Marsh cleanups, just to name a few.

Herrontown Woods is a people's park, where people of all ages can explore, enjoy, and learn from nature to enrich their lives, and to grow to become its stewards.
Help with our monthly May's Cafe, a social gathering with coffee and treats, on the first Sunday of every month. Help set up musical and educational events. Weed the woods! Help salamanders cross the road. Have a project or event idea? Talk to us!

Friends of Hopewell Valley Open Space (FoHVOS)

FoHVOS is an accredited non-profit land trust dedicated to preserving the valley's unique character by partnering with the community to preserve land, protect natural resources, and inspire a new generation of conservation.
Regularly scheduled Trail Crew work days in spring and fall (once per month in summer) involve removing overgrown vegetation. Independent Trail Steward program involves walking the trail, performing light maintenance, and submitting a report. Independent native plant garden volunteer work at Baldpate Mountain. Additional opportunities available based on skillset.

Friends of Princeton Open Space is devoted to preserving open space in and around Princeton, stewarding natural resources, providing environmental education, and advocating for sound governmental policies that protect our water, land, animals and plant communities.
Land Stewardship Volunteer Opportunities (Individuals & Groups) Volunteers assist with ecological restoration efforts by removing invasive plant species, installing native plants, and maintaining cages/exclosures to protect native plants from deer and beaver browsing. These activities support the long-term health of local ecosystems while providing participants with practical land stewardship skills that can be applied to conservation projects at home and within their neighborhoods. * Trail Crew Volunteer Opportunities (Ages 18 and Older) Volunteers work alongside experienced crew leaders to maintain the trail network within the Greater Mountain Lakes Open Space Area. Responsibilities may include clearing vegetation, repairing boardwalks and stream crossings, and improving trail accessibility across more than nine miles of public hiking trails. * Volunteer Projects for Scouts, Community Groups, and Individuals The Adopt-A-Plot Program offers participants the opportunity to contribute to the 25-acre riparian restoration project at the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve. Volunteers "adopt" a 50-foot by 50-foot restoration plot and commit to invasive species management, fundraising for native plant installations, and seasonal planting activities under the guidance of our stewardship team. This program provides a meaningful, long-term conservation experience and is particularly well-suited for Eagle Scout conservation projects. * Administrative & Program Support Volunteers can also assist with event photography, nature art projects, social media, strategic communications, outreach, helping to develop and lead educational programs, event planning, promotion, and securing grants and sponsorships.

Hopewell ecoPTO

Helping ecoPTO staff any number of projects, including but not limited to, plantings, garden support, nature walks, movement breaks, outdoor education support, professional development opportunities.

Hopewell Valley Gardens for Wildlife

Hopewell Valley (Hopewell Township, Pennington Borough & Hopewell Borough) is working to become certified in the Community Wildlife Habitat ™ Program. Certifying individual properties is a large component of the Community Wildlife Habitat program. All properties including homes, common areas, schools, and nature centers can be certified using the Certified Wildlife Habitat website. To become certified a property must fulfill the following five requirements: food, water, cover, places to raise young, and sustainable practices.
Hopewell Valley Gardens for Wildlife is seeking enthusiastic volunteers who are passionate about native plants! We need dedicated individuals to assist with tabling events and/or planting native species to support local wildlife.

Mercer County Park Commission, Tulpehaking Nature Center

We connect children and adults with the nature and history of Mercer County. Our programs feature hands-on activities and meaningful stewardship experiences to cultivate an environmentally aware and involved community.
We are building a team of volunteers to help us install and maintain native plant demonstration gardens throughout Mercer County. Tasks might involve planting, weeding, watering, creating garden labels and signage, and running table activities about native plants at community events. More involved training will be provided for volunteers assisting with maintenance of our rain gardens.

Washington Crossing Park Association Contact: info@wcpa-nj.com
The Washington Crossing Park Association works to preserve, enhance and advocate for the park and the history it represents. We strive to educate citizens and enrich their quality of life through knowledge of and exposure to the park.
We have three volunteer crews: our Trail Stewards maintain the park's 13 miles of hiking, biking and riding trails. The Conservation Crew removes invasive species and plants natives throughout the park. The Garden Club tends the park's small, public-facing gardens.
